The Washington Post is reporting that Jennifer Lawson, a 39 year old mother, was putting one of her young children in the backseat of her van on a typical morning. She was across the street from the local elementary school.
However, at 11:30 AM tragedy struck when a dump truck ran her over. Lawson was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries and died. The force of the crash tore off the van’s door, but the child was not physically harmed by the accident.
The local community was devastated by the loss. Many described Jennifer as a “devoted mother” who was “outgoing” and had a “very close relationship with her husband.” Mary Zhe, president of the local PTA, said she was very active in the group and was engaged in decorating the school’s front hallways.
The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators, and is reported to have not been injured in the accident.
